JSC "Airline "Burundaiaviaā€¯ is based at Boraldai airport (former name Burundai) that is situated within 5 km from Almaty city - a former capital of Kazakhstan. The airline possesses ICAO code: BRY. HistoryThe company was formed on the basis of Kazakhstan Expedition No 9 whose history dates back to 1946. In 1965 it was transformed to Burundai United Aviation Division. In 1997 the devision became the Regional Service Airline Burundaiavia, and in October 2002 JSC "Airline "Burundaiavia" was founded on the basis of this airline. FleetAs of February 2008 Burundaiavia helicopter fleet consists of fourteen helicopters:
Four more helicopters Mi-8MTV-1 and two Mi-8T helicopters are under overhaul at Aircraft Repair Plant No 405 in Almaty. According to the airline program the airline fleet will consist of 20 helicopters by the end of 2008. ServicesBurundaiavia provides helicopter services in Kazakhstan and abroad including passenger and cargo air transportation, installation and construction works, aerial firefighting, medical evacuation, search and rescue flights, and other special operations. The company is a registered supplier of goods and services to the United Nations. At present time the airline is successfully performing helicopter operations under long-term contracts with the UN in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Sudan. External links
