Cooma is the main commercial centre of the Snowy Mountains region and the headquarters of the Snowy Mountains Scheme. It is a large sub-alpine town servicing the needs of its rural population and the Snowy Mountains ski industry operators. The town is about one hour's drive from our main ski resorts and provides a good base for your snow holiday. Air services operate to Cooma but the Airport is closed on occasions after heavy snow falls.
Cooma has a population of 8000 and is situated in the southern highlands of NSW. The town of Cooma is the commercial and social hub of the Monaro Plains and Snowy Mountains region.
Cooma’s location guarantees four distinct seasons every year. Summer’s warm to hot days cool at night to allow a good night’s sleep. Autumn has perfect days to enjoy the spectacular autumn leaves and clear starry nights which are awe-inspiring. Winter brings frosty mornings warming to mild sunny days and an occasional snowfall. Spring awakens fantastic displays of flowers and blossom trees all over the town
