Some people come to Maitland just to soak up the heritage and the atmosphere. What you do while you're there is up to you, but there's such a wide choice, the one thing we can promise you is that you won't be bored! With such rugged mountains and wild country so close by, it's hard to resist the temptation to climb aboard a tough four wheel drive and go exploring tracks and byways deep in the forest. If you don't have your own 4WD, go with one of the many tour operators. Try a little rock climbing. Or, for an even more exhilarating view, take a ride in a hot air balloon, hang from the seat belts aboard a fully-fledged aerobatic biplane or ultralight.
Royal Newcastle Aero Club has a long and proud history, with its beginnings back in 1928.
Over the years, the club has operated a range of aircraft with clubs current fleet consisting of Cessna 150 's, Cessna 152 's, Cessna 172 's, a Cessna 182, a new Piper Archer, a twin-engined Beech Duchess and a De Havilland Tiger Moth, with all club aircraft maintained to the highest standards by the clubs own on site engineers.
Our charter is to train you, as a new pilot, so you can enjoy and experience the challenge and freedom of flight as safely as possible.
Becoming a member of the Social Club allows you to use the club 's restaurant, bar, pool area, barbeque and grounds for your own enjoyment, and we encourage you to visit the aerodrome as often as you wish, and we are only too pleased to answer any questions you may have regarding flight training with RNAC.
Royal Newcastle Aero Club is one of the oldest flight training organisations in the world and has a long and proud history, with its beginnings back in 1928 at Broadmeadow aerodrome in Newcastle. Since then the club has progressed significantly and now operates from Russell Field at Maitland, about one and a half hours North of Sydney in the Hunter Valley.
