History
1950
Ingolf Nielsen buys Snderjyllands Flyveselskab (Airline of South Jutland) and starts to undertake photoflyings etc. from the fields of Ellegaarden near Snderborg.
1960
The apron at the airfield by Ellegaarden is asphalted and new hangars are build.
1969
Snderborg Airport starts flying en route, and the new airport is officially opened. The runway is now 1200m.
1975
The runway is increased to 1500m.
1993
The municipality of Snderborg and the county of South Jutland take over the terminal, the tower and the running of the airport. Hereby the need for running a public airport with room for several players is met.
1997-98
The municipalities of Augustenborg, Nordborg, Sydals, Sundeved and Broager join the members of the co-operative system. Thus, the ownership is composed of six suburban municipalities and the county of South Jutland.
2000
The runway is increased to 1797m, and the terminal undergoes a considerable rebuilding/renovation. Air Alsie extends their administration.
2001
Karlog Air builds hangar.
2003
Cimber Air extends the existing hangar with and Snderborg Airport is building a new 17,46 meter high control tower.
2004
Snderborg Airport extends the airside with ca. 4000 m2 asphalted aircraft-parking.
