Tartu Airport (IATA: TAY, ICAO: EETU) is 5 NM (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) south southwest of the city centre of Tartu in Estonia, near the Tartu–Võru highway. It is also called Ülenurme Airport due to its proximity to the village of Ülenurme.
After years with no regular flights two regular services are currently being established: AirBaltic runs a 10 times weekly service to Riga Airport using Fokker 50 aircraft (twice on Monday, Friday and Sunday; once on all the other weekdays). Estonian Air Regional runs a 4 times weekly service to Stockholm using Saab 340 aircraft (on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday). History
The airport was opened in 1946. A new terminal building was built in 1981, and the runway and taxiway were also upgraded then. Since 2005 the airport has been owned by Tallinn Airport Ltd.
In 2009 the runway was lengthened to 1,799 m (5,902 ft).
In 2009 Tartu Airport served 9707 passengers.
On the 29th of October 2009, Tartu Airport had its 5000th passenger.
