It is planned to expand the current airport into an all-weather airport. A Rs. 195 crore proposal was submitted recently for land acquisition for the airport. It is proposed to acquire 650 acres (2.6 km) of surrounding land, of which 530 acres (2.1 km) is agricultural land.
