Thanjavur Air Force Station (IATA: TJV, ICAO: VOTJ) is a military airport located in Thanjavur (also known as Tanjore), a municipal corporation in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. This new Air Force Station is being built on land was acquired by the Indian Air Force in 2006. The site already contained runways, having previously served as an airport.
In early 1990s, Thanjavur was connected with Chennai via the Vayudoot Flight Service, which was stopped due to poor patronage.
Facilities
The airport resides at an elevation of 253 feet (77 m) above mean sea level. It has two runways with concrete surfaces: 07/25 measuring 5,680 by 150 feet (1,731 × 46 m) and 14/32 measuring 4,757 by 150 feet (1,450 × 46 m). Recent aerial photography only shows markings on Runway 07/25.
