"SLAF China Bay" (IATA: TRR, ICAO: VCCT) is a Sri Lanka Air Force base located at China Bay, Trincomalee. Trincomalee was a popular tourist attraction in the past and is now surging back to popularity following the newly dawned peace in Sri Lanka. The airbase is situated closer to the coast and ias a long runway which is believed to be able to handle most modern aircraft. Established by the British as RAF China Bay in the 1920’s and was attacked by the Japanese during World War II.
During the time the Indian Peace Keeping Force was in Sri Lanka, China Bay Airport had to operate a number of Indian aircraft including IL-76s. Lodger Squadrons

Air Force AcademyToday this base houses the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy. Establishment in 1976 it is the location of initial officer training in the Sri Lanka Air Force.
