History of Glasgow Airport
2004 Glasgow Airport's second terminal, T2, was officially opened, providing an additional 9 check in desks and a state of the art baggage screening system.
2004 Glasgow Airport became the first in Scotland to handle more than a million passengers in a single month
2003 Passenger numbers had broken through the 8 million mark
2002 A new multi-storey car park, linked to the main terminal, opened
2000 By the turn of the century, Glasgow Airport was handling over 6.9 million passengers
1994 The new International Pier was officially opened
1990s Shortly after development work began, the Government announced that trans-Atlantic carriers could now fly from the airport of their choice. A number of airlines switched their operation from Prestwick to Glasgow Airport, including Air Canada
1980s Passenger numbers had reached 4 million and further expansion was required. In 1989, the airport embarked on a massive terminal development programme, increasing the size of the terminal by 70%.
1976 A £2million extension to the international area of the terminal building began and took 18 months to complete
January 1975 An agreement was reached for the transfer of ownership from Glasgow Corporation to the British Airport Authority with effect from 1 April
1970s saw the growth of package holidays from Glasgow, with airlines such as Laker, Tarom, Britannia, British Midland, Iberia and Channel all flying to popular destinations in Europe.
1966 The first commercial flight landed in May at 08.00- a BEA Viscount from Edinburgh piloted by Captain Eric Starling, the airline's Scottish flight manager. During its first year of operation the airport handled 1.5 million passengers and 34,000 aircraft movements
1966 Glasgow Airport was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 27 June; though the terminal opened to passengers a month earlier

Departure Gates
British Airways flights operated by Loganair generally depart from Gate 2 (except Derry flights which depart from Gate 14) on the first floor. Always check the monitors in the airport
Arrivals
Passengers alighting from flights from Barra, Campbeltown, Islay and Tiree will arrive on the ground-level concourse
Lounge
There is a British Airways Executive Club Lounge located on the main domestic pier
Left Luggage
The left luggage facility is located outside the UK arrivals area.
Car Hire
Avis (see Service Partners), Budget, Europcar, Hertz and National car rental desks are located in the terminal in the main UK arrivals area
Taxi Services
Taxis are available from the terminal forecourt. Glasgow city centre is approximately a 20 minute journey.
Bus Services
There are frequent bus services from the terminal forecourt to the city centre with drop-off points near mainline rail stations and Buchanan bus station
Train Services
A frequent bus link to and from Paisley Gilmour Street Railway Station offers train services to Glasgow Central station, Ayr and the Clyde Coast.
Public transport information, timetable and tickets are available from the SPT Travel Centre in the UK Arrivals concourse. There is also an Airport Information Desk located on the first floor adjacent to the UK Arrivals/Departures area
