Glenegedale (or Islay) Airport is the gateway to Islay Island off the southwest coast of Scotland, and offers a scheduled twice-daily flight to Glasgow as well as regular charter flights transporting golfers from the UK and US during the summer. The single terminal building is open from 9:30am until 6.45pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am until just 10.30am on Saturdays. It is usually closed on Sundays but can be opened upon arrangement. The airport cafe and store sells a wide range of snacks, meals and refreshments, as well as gifts, reading material, and local malt whiskey. There are no financial or business facilities. Facilities for disabled passengers include specially designed toilets, ramps, and wide access points. Further information can be obtained at the airport information desk within the terminal building. Car hire is available from the terminal, phone D & N MacKenzie on 01496 302300 prior to arrival. Alternatively, a number of companies provide taxi services to get around the island, including: Carol MacDonald +44 (0) 1496 302155, Fiona's Taxis +44 (0) 1496 302622 and Lamont's Taxis +44 (0) 1496 810449. The airport lies on the A846, which links with Port Ellen to the south and Bowmore to the north. A bus service runs to all towns on the island and is scheduled to meet all flights. Both short- and long-term parking is available.

Islay International Airport is situated on the beautiful Island of Islay on the south West Coast of Scotland just slightly north of the Northern Irish coast. Islay is known in Scotland as the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’ and this is for very some very good and unique reasons. The island is a gem of an island with plenty of spectacular scenery including golden beaches (one seven miles long situated at the airport) and sea views as well as lush green fields and heather covered hills. The island is lapped on its West Coast by the Atlantic Ocean and warm Gulf Stream, which gives it a surprisingly mild climate.
